Meet Angie

Meet the Captain —

Hi, I’m Angie. I was born on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and have spent most of my life fishing these waters. It’s where I feel most at home, and it’s what inspired me to start Happy Fishing.

I love sharing the experience of being on the water. Whether it’s helping someone catch their first fish or watching a family spend the day outdoors together, those moments are what make this job special. I believe fishing is about more than just the catch. It’s about making memories.

Before chartering, I worked in jewelry sales and helped people celebrate life’s biggest milestones. Now I get to do that in a new way—with salt air, sunshine, and a fishing rod in hand.

My journey started when a friend invited me to deckhand on a trip. I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve worked with some of the best captains on the Coast and continue learning every chance I get. The water is always changing, and I love the challenge.

Every trip is a chance to connect, explore, and enjoy the beauty of the Coast. I’m proud to share what I love with every guest who steps on board.

Girl Power!

Angie is proud to be the only solely owned and solely operated female fishing charter captain on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Her journey began as a deckhand, working both inshore and offshore for several respected captains in the region. After gaining hands-on experience and a deep respect for the water, she earned both her Captain’s License and Master Captain’s License through Sea School in Bayou La Batre, Alabama.

She went on to run charters for various boat owners along the Gulf Coast, but her ultimate goal was to create something of her own. That dream became a reality when she purchased her own boat and launched Happy Fishing Charters, a business built on skill, heart, and independence.

Angie’s dedication to the sport and the community has earned her recognition across the region. She is a proud member of American Daughters of Conservation, University of Southern Mississippi’s Tag & Release Program, and OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute). In 2024, she was honored as a nominee for Gulf Coast Woman's "100 Successful Women to Know", and was featured on WLOX News as part of the In Her Shoes series, which highlights and promotes women in business along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

In one of her most memorable moments on the water, Angie joined Captain Michelle Bancewicz of F/V No Limits to land her personal best — a remarkable 293-pound Bluefin Tuna.
