Mississippi Gulf Coast Fishing Update for the Week of June 22nd: Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder & Red Snapper Season

School is out for the kids, but the fish schools are thriving here along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. As the weather heats up, fishing has been fantastic, with bait fish swarming near our barrier islands and drawing in the bigger game fish.

The early morning bite has been the most productive lately, offering excellent opportunities to catch speckled trout, redfish, and flounder. The speckled trout have been especially active under a popping cork setup, using live shrimp or croakers as bait. Targeting these areas near the barrier islands has consistently produced great results.

Afternoon trips can be more challenging due to the heat and slower fish activity, so we recommend booking your fishing trips in the morning to take full advantage of the bite.

In addition, Red Snapper season is now in full swing along the coast, and the action has been thrilling. We’ve enjoyed several successful days landing red snapper with some exciting bonus catches of cobia adding to the fun. This is truly the perfect time to book a 6-hour fishing charter or a dedicated Red Snapper fishing trip to experience the best of what the Gulf waters offer right now.

Keep in mind, the Red Snapper season for state waters closes on July 6th, so don’t miss your chance to get out on the water and enjoy this prime fishing opportunity.

Whether you’re after speckled trout, redfish, flounder, or red snapper, the Mississippi Gulf Coast offers fantastic fishing year-round and right now, the fishing couldn’t be better!
